Kathmandu. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has received the vote of confidence for the second time.
172 votes were in favor and 89 were against in the voting on Monday. One vote was lost in voting.
262 MPs were present in the voting process. The Prime Minister needed 138 votes of confidence.
Prime Minister Prachanda had previously taken the vote of confidence on 26 December. At that time, Prime Minister Prachanda got 268 votes and two people voted against. Prachanda was appointed as the Prime Minister on December 10 with the support of 169 MPs.
After breaking the alliance with UML, Prime Minister Prachanda took a vote of confidence again after forming a ten-party alliance with the Congress. There is a constitutional provision that the Prime Minister should take a vote of confidence within 30 days after the parties including UML withdraw their support.
The Prime Minister was supported by his party Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress, Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), United Socialist Party, Janmaat Party, Democratic Socialist Party (LOSP), Civil Liberation Party and Rashtriya Jan Morcha.
